What Is a Root Canal Treatment?
Inside every tooth, there is a soft part called the pulp. It has nerves and blood vessels. When a deep cavity, crack, or injury lets germs reach this pulp, it gets infected and starts to hurt.
In a root canal treatment (also called RCT), the dentist gently removes the infected pulp, cleans the inside of the tooth, and fills it. Then the tooth is covered with a cap (crown) to make it strong again.
In simple words: we clean the tooth from inside and save it, so you don’t have to remove it.
Signs You May Need a Root Canal
Please visit the dentist if you notice any of these:
- Strong toothache that comes on its own or wakes you at night
- Pain or sensitivity to hot and cold that stays even after you finish eating or drinking
- Pain when you chew or press on the tooth
- Swelling or pimple-like bump on the gums
- Gums that are red, sore, or bleeding near one tooth
- A tooth that looks darker than the others
- A deep cavity or a broken tooth
Sometimes there is no pain at all, but the infection is still growing. A quick check-up and X-ray can tell you for sure.
How Is Root Canal Treatment Done?
Check-up and X-ray:The dentist checks your tooth and takes a small X-ray to see the infection.
Numbing:We numb the area, so you don’t feel pain during the treatment.
Cleaning the tooth:A small opening is made, and the infected pulp is removed.
Shaping and disinfecting:The inside of the tooth is cleaned and shaped carefully.
Filling:The cleaned space is filled and sealed to stop germs from coming back.
Crown or cap:A crown is placed on top to protect the tooth and help it work like a normal tooth.

How Is Root Canal Treatment Done?
Root canal is very painful.
Not true. With modern numbing, it feels like getting a normal filling. The pain is from the infection, not from the treatment.
It’s better to just remove the tooth.
Your natural tooth is always the best. Removing it can cause gaps, and replacing it costs more.
Root canal makes you sick
No. This is an old myth. Root canal is safe and has been done for many years all over the world.
